Netomnia, the UK’s fastest-growing wholesale fibre broadband operator, has today announced that it will roll out its multi-gigabit broadband network across Trowbridge and Frome. The addition of these two towns increases Netomnia’s expansion to four towns across the Southwest.
Netomnia will provide Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband infrastructure to more than 28,000 premises in Trowbridge and 34,000 premises in Frome, providing access to its robust and reliable broadband network. Almost £20 million will be invested into the areas, utilising existing underground ducting and overhead infrastructure to reduce local disruption and facilitate a swift and efficient execution.
The company is partnering with KN Circet to roll out its broadband infrastructure, allowing for a strong speed of deployment and execution capability, using cutting edge optical solutions.
Founded in 2019, Netomnia is the UK’s fastest-growing wholesale fibre broadband operator. The company is now delivering broadband infrastructure to 19 towns and cities in England, Scotland and Wales and is looking to continue its expansion further.
Netomnia makes wholesale connectivity available to Internet Service Providers (ISPs), building the infrastructure for their broadband services. The company aims to reach one million premises by 2023 and as of November 2021, had achieved 90,000 premises passed. The company recently secured £123 million in funding to support its rollout strategy.
Alan O’Prey, Managing Director at Netomnia, commented:
“We are thrilled to continue our expansion into the Southwest, delivering ultrafast broadband to areas previously forgotten by other broadband providers. It’s getting more and more necessary for reliable, fast broadband, and location should not be a prerequisite to obtaining that. With our experienced and credible management team, development into Trowbridge and Frome will provide households and communities with the latest technology to ensure consistently high speeds and bring significant benefits to the local economy.”
David Warburton, MP for Somerton and Frome, commented:
“Ultrafast broadband is vital to every town in the UK, now, more than ever. Since the global pandemic, it is an essential utility to enable people to run businesses, work, learn, communicate, access entertainment, and even medical support from home.
“I’m delighted that Netomnia has chosen to invest in a full fibre infrastructure for 34,000 properties in Frome, meaning our town is well and truly up to date with the UK’s digital revolution. I’m pleased to work with Netomnia as they begin their build of the network, which I believe will make a difference to residents and businesses in our area.”
Netomnia estimates that the first properties will go live on its infrastructure in Q1 2022.
